Logos that Look Alike

It’s becoming more and more difficult to execute original logo designs. No matter how clever your idea is, chances are that someone has undoubtedly already thought of this and has created a very similar logo. Why is that, and what can you do to really set it apart?

Are designers already at the last drop of their creative juice, or is it just trend influences? Here’s 3 pairs of logos that I have taken from logodesignlove.

Ubuntu and Human Rights First.

Sun Microsystems and Columbia Sportswear.

Wayback Machine and Google Blogoscoped.

No doubt in my mind that the logo for Sun was inspired by Columbia. No need to re-invent the wheel right? zzzzzzzzzzz

Ubuntu specifically got the logo from human rights. Ubuntu means Humanity.
