How To Disable Startup Programs in XP and Vista

Does you Windows take a lot of time at startup? If that’s the case, then here’s a simple method that will help you reduce certain programs, thus boosting up your system’s speed/performance.

When you install certain applications onto your system, they by default creates an entry at start up and gets loaded every single time you run your system. Whether these programs are being used or not, they will only add up to your RAM’s space, thus reducing system’s processing speed.

How to Disable these programs?

There are many different ways of removing these programs from startup. But here, I will discuss only the easiest one.

For XP Users;

1. Click Start -> Click Run -> Type msconfig -> Press Enter

2. Click on the Startup tab

3. This lists every program that starts up with Windows

4. Be Very careful while sorting through the list. It is highly recommended that you uncheck one item at a time, to make sure that nothing goes wrong.

5. Restart your system.

For Vista Users;

Click Windows button ->In the search area, Type msconfig -> Press Enter and follow the steps from 2 and onwards.
