Microsoft Windows Azure Cloud OS platform

On a Monday morning Microsoft unveiled its latest Window named Azure, a software and services platform for cloud computing.

Applications created within Azure can run from the cloud or even enhance non-cloud based applications with the hive-like features.


It was suppose to be Windows Strata but finally it has been unveiled as Windows Azure. Apparently just one component of Microsoft’s larger Azure cloud computing platform, which will eventually be fully rolled out alongside Windows 7.

The Azure Services Platform is an internet-based platform hosted at Microsoft data centers. It is a flexible platform that can be used to build new applications to run from the cloud or enhance existing applications with cloud-based capabilities.

Window Azure can be used for a variety of purposes including; web service capabilities to existing packaged applications, you can even perform services off-side premises, you can easily create test, debug and share web-services instantly.

In its embryonic stages Azure will be free with certain usage limits; after that, pricing will be based on a consumption, considering machine hours, storage, bandwidth and transactions.
