Identify Cell Phone Signal Coverage With Signal Map

One of the major problems faced by cell phone users around the world is of ‘Bad Reception’. Most users would have experienced garbled voices that disturbed their conversation. “Hello?!?! Can you hear me now?”; “You are breaking up!”, etc are among the common phrases used by cell phone users.

Worse yet, when you attempt to call them back, you have no coverage. Despite that your provider has assured you that the signal is strong near your locality.

However, now you can find out where your cell phone could pick up strong signals via Signal Map – a user based cellular signal coverage map. It uses Google Maps Mash up as a base map and it allows users to add their opinion on the signal strengths based on the model of the cell phones they are using.

Although SignalMap is in its beta and lacks useful components, none the less the idea is good and it will definitely improve in the near future. But the fact remains that could it prove to be a worthwhile technology for business users especially those who are on the move? Only time will tell the real story.
