Disable Automatic Virus Scanning in Firefox 3 – How To
FireFox is the world’s best and widely used browser and the reasons for being No.1 on the list are countless. Among several reasons, one is that it automatically scans downloaded files before transferring it onto your system.
Despite its benifits for protecting your PC from certain viruses, it makes systems with low processing power even more slower.
FireFox gives you the leverage to safely turn off this option, in case you have a strong anti-virus installed onto your system. In order to disable this feature, follow the instructions mentioned below:
Type about:config in address bar and press Enter.
Press “I will be careful, I promise!” button (shown in the screen-shot above). Now in the filter bar type the following,
browser.download.manager.scanWhenDone
A Boolean value set as true by default, will be displayed as can be seen in the screenshot below.
Change the value to false, by double clicking on the entry. Voila!
