10 Very Handy Tools for Power Diggers
Digg is a free social media website where the news on its pages is controlled by the community of users. The community of users submit the stories and “vote” on them by clicking the “digg this” icons besides each story listed on its pages.
Although you will find large numbers of Digg tools, but if you are looking to be a Power Digger, then these tools might come in handy.
1. Digg This!
A FireFox extension allows you to simply highlight text on any web page that you are on, adds Digg This! to the right-click menu, Tools menu, and optionally the toolbar. The Digg This! extension speeds up the process of submitting stories to the news website digg.com
2. Feedit
This application is far better than the original feed of Digg. This is the best way to monitor the stories that appear on Digg`s frontpage.
3. Smart Digg
Another FireFox extension that places a button in your status bar. It uses the newly released Digg API to determine if the web page you are currently viewing has been submitted to Digg.
4. Digg Button Animation Enabler
Enables the animation when pressing the digg button on an article that includes one, so you can digg it and keep reading without requiring you to visit Digg.com
5. Digg Comment Viewer
Great flash app which lets you view your comments as well as the ones of your friends. You can see your average comment rating, how many diggs you have per comment. Also, when you click a comment in the table, it shows the comment, when it was posted and what story it was posted on.
6. Digg Alerter
A very nice tool that pops up a window on your PC desktop when your stories are dugg or commented on. But only the stories that you submitted yourself – it doesn’t count the ones that someone else submitted but you dugg later.
7. Update Scanner
Yet another FireFox extention that monitors web pages for updates. Useful for websites that don’t provide Atom or RSS feeds. Monitors a page, that regularly publishes good content.
8. Social Blade FrontPage Data
Another great tool for keeping track of the front page stories along with the digg count and the % of friends that have dugg it, and some other useful elements.
9. Google Reader Digg News
Adds a digg control to every news-item in google reader.
10. DiggTop
This sleek little desktop app runs on Adobe AIR and is actually quite nice to use. You can read a summary of each story by clicking on it. You can also jump to different categories and see the stories coming in.
