How to Spell Check for All Text Areas in Firefox

firefox-logo-pngAhhh…! I have always been bad in spellings. It always horrified me when ever I was down to write something over the internet. I know I could have searched for spelling tools that would help me while I was writing.

But before I could search any other tool, I found a very useful technique already available in Firefox. I wonder why Firefox has disabled it by default, never the less, I found this tweak very simple and easy to apply.

If you are a bad speller like me, then you should definitely turn on Firefox’s spelling checker. Here is how I did it:

1. Open Firefox, and in the address bar type: about:config
2. Click on ‘I promise, I will be careful‘ button and move on,
3. In the filter bar, type the following carefully;

layout.spellcheckDefault

4. By default the value is set to ‘1‘. You will have to double click the value and change it to ‘2‘.
5. Restart Firefox for changes to take effect.

Voila! Now you won’t have to worry about misspellings anymore.
