How to Convert Office 2007 (.docx) files to a 2003 (.doc) readable format

office-logoMicrosoft Office is one of the most popular and widely used program for creating text documents, visual presentations, etc etc. The latest release of Office was made public in 2008. After that many of us have already updated our previous version with this new one.

One of the major problems faced by a majority of users worldwide is that its formats, namely docx (for Words), xlsx (for Excel) and pptx (for Powerpoint) are incompatible with older versions of MS Office 2005 and below.

The utilization of this new version of office applications poses problems regarding compatibility and portability of office documents. There are still millions of people who haven’t yet updated their MS Office version, may be because they are use to their current office interface or may be they are too lazy to update it.

No matter what the reason may be; if you are unfortunate enough to get a document file (.docx) created in 2007, 2008 version then you must have faced the compatibility issue.

In order to solve this very annoying problem, you must consider using online conversion tools; such as Docx2Doc – a web service which offers free conversion of .docx documents to .doc format, or you may give Zamzar a shot, which is another service that offers document conversions. The advantage of Zamzar is its capability to convert not only office documents, but also images, music, archives and videos as well.

You can also solve this issue by downloading the latest version of the Microsoft Office Compatibility Pack for Word, Excel, and PowerPoint 2007 File Formats for free from Microsoft.
