Everything Finds Windows Files As You Type
The built- in search function for Windows XP sucks! For instance, if you have a huge volume of files on your hard disk, Windows XP search feature will take ages to search for the keyword provided in the search bar. And if it do finishes the search, you won’t get the expected output, you were looking for.
So what should we do if we are inclined to use this feature? My simple solution is to install Everything. A simple but unique program that will effectively and efficiently do all your chores of file searching and comes with the right output when ever you type in the keyword or file name.
This amazing application finishes the job within moments. Simply download and install the file and within seconds you will be able to find just about anything stored on your system. No need to wait a few hours or days for Everything to build an index of your files first.

However, there is another similar program called Google Desktop Search and Windows Search 4.0 that can be used as an alternative, expect that it takes a huge amount of system resources – including RAM and Hard disk space to build the index, in order to search quickly.
Everything is compatible with Windows 2000, Windows XP, Windows 2003 and Windows Vista. [via LifeHacker]
