Google Knol – A Wikipedia Killer
A few months back Google was under going on its latest project, Knol. But recently announced at Google Blog that it has released its Wikipedia-like service in its first alpha phase.
Google Knol is an authoritative article on a specific subject, which can be authored and updated by several people collaboratively.
The authors of the knols can take credit for their writing, provide credentials, and elicit peer reviews and comments. knols will be signed by your name or by group of authors and can be accessed through a browser on any computer. While, Users can provide feedback, comments, related information. In other words, Knol is a platform for sharing information.
Here’s what Google official blog say about Knol:-
“The key principle behind Knol is authorship. Every knol will have an author (or group of authors) who put their name behind their content. It’s their knol, their voice, their opinion. We expect that there will be multiple knols on the same subject, and we think that is good.”
