30 Kickass Torrent Search Engines for Hunting Torrents

utorrent-logoWe all love Torrents. It’s one of the quickest way to transfer and share files from one system to another. In recent years we have seen a major boom in P2P (peer-to-peer) file sharing technology.

Although downloading torrents from thousands of sites is not a difficult task, still people are unaware of how to upload a torrent file on a site. As huge volume of torrents found over the Internet, searching the right torrent that suites you is not an easy task as such.

Many a times people ask – Which is the best torrent search engine on the web? I find it very difficult to answer, as people have different likings and dis-likings about search engines. Keeping this preference in mind, I have compiled a list of 30 Torrent search engines that would suit all sorts of people. Let me know, if you like it!

You should remove demonoid, it is an invite only site plus you’ve linked isohunts site :)

  2. SparxyUK (February 13th, 2009 at 5:31 pm)

    Mininova.org anybody?
Definitely should be on the list!

  3. Tim (February 13th, 2009 at 5:32 pm)

The link to Demonoid points to ISOhunt.

  4. Musab Zain (February 13th, 2009 at 6:14 pm)

    @ John and Tim

Thanks for notifying. I have updated the link. However, I won’t remove demonoid since I am using it :)

    @ SparxyUK

Mininova is already on the list; #2.

  5. Elfo (February 13th, 2009 at 6:22 pm)

Kind of tacky to include trackers (piratebay, demonoid, etc.), torrent hosters (mininova, isohunt, etc.) with pure search engines (Torrentz, Pizzatorrent, Scrapetorrent), don’t you think? You should at least make a distinction between the three.

    Oh well.

  6. Kashif (February 13th, 2009 at 7:46 pm)

Monova.org is also a fine site when it comes to hunting torrents

  7. sharee (February 13th, 2009 at 10:51 pm)

demonoid should be higher on the list. pirate bay = virus bay. quality over quantity, my friend.

  8. Musab Zain (February 13th, 2009 at 11:07 pm)

    @ above

Couldn’t agree more. However this is an unordered list, therefore it doesn’t matter which comes first and which comes in the end.

  9. Saboom (February 13th, 2009 at 11:49 pm)

You could save yourself a lot of trouble and just use activedots.com (used to be torrentpond.com).

It lets you search all of the torrent searches from one window instead of having to go to each one seperately.

  10. Galatorg (February 14th, 2009 at 12:08 am)

I agree with what elfo said. Personally I use torrentz, that in turn searches through many of the ones already on the list. Good trackers/hosts like TPB and mininova is typically what I go with through torrentz. Great list though.

  11. Musab Zain (February 14th, 2009 at 12:19 am)

    @ Saboom

Thanks for sharing with us. ActiveDots has been added in the list.

    @ Galatorg

    Thanks for the appreciation :D

  12. fail (February 14th, 2009 at 12:58 am)

Actually, it’s not an unordered list either:

    Top 30 Torrent Search Engines
    1. Isohunt
    2. Mininova
    3. BTjunkie

  13. google (February 14th, 2009 at 1:13 am)

Another great one is this place called Google. I have isohunt as a search engine on my browser and whenever they fail I just go to google and search the same thing with torrent added to the end.

  14. Caesar (February 14th, 2009 at 5:01 am)

Piratebay is a great tracker, the best in my opinion. However, as a search engine it absolutely blows. It is the master of returning unrelated rubbish. If your downloading something popular it’s not much a of a problem because you can just order by seeders and it puts what you want near the top. But for something more obscure you get a few hundred results, about ten of which are related and you’re stuck scanning through them.

  15. ferrariman (February 14th, 2009 at 5:34 am)

    How about Pizzatorrent.com?

  16. Eazy (February 14th, 2009 at 5:34 am)

    Does anyone else use Toorgle?

  17. tefiri (February 14th, 2009 at 6:40 am)

yo what about thepiratebay.org its the best! if you want realy seed counts and real leacher counts. they give real data not like the other sites.

  18. Torrent Search (February 14th, 2009 at 7:19 am)

 Thanks for including ScrapeTorrent on the list!

  19. hulkstolemybike (February 14th, 2009 at 8:21 am)

Yeah, um, not to be rude or anything, but Demonoid is a private tracker and we like it that way. It’s invite only for a reason.

  20. Cristian (February 14th, 2009 at 8:44 am)

    What about http://beta.legaltorrents.com/ ?

  21. raziel (February 14th, 2009 at 9:42 am)

i use Bit Che. Is a free software who has a databases with TPB, FullDls, IsoHunt, Mininova …. U can easily see which one has more seeds :)
After all this is the most important thing

  22. raziel (February 14th, 2009 at 9:52 am)

http://www.torrentech.org for music. U need an invite, but if u enter the IRC Chat u can get one

    TORRENTZ

it is to find any torrent in all those site LOL

  24. colin (February 14th, 2009 at 9:42 pm)

well, if any of you can take the time to try to get an invite, waste your time on http://www.torrenttech.com I’m still waiting on an invite but the best electro/dance/computermade music torrents are on that site

  25. brodie (February 14th, 2009 at 10:41 pm)

For mainstream music I’d recommend Coda.fm

Pretty new but everything is verified and the selection’s growing by the day.

  26. Damien (February 14th, 2009 at 11:07 pm)

    http://www.seektorrents.com/

    :D

    Also, Veritor

  28. Finlandia420 (February 15th, 2009 at 7:10 am)

I rank Demonoid and Piratebay tied for #1 if nothing else then for the community.

Each torrent has a message board so to speak, and they are the first to point out if it has a virus, when comes to appz/gamez how to get them installed/work arounds, and are just generally helpful.

  29. Musab Zain (February 15th, 2009 at 9:09 am)

    @ ferrariman
PizzaTorrent is already in the list.

    @ Eazy
Thanks for letting us know. Toorgle has been added to our list.

    @ Torrent Search
    Your Welcome! :)

    @ All
Thank you all for your response. Your suggested torrents have been added to our list. :D

Hey, how ’bout an invite to Demonoid?

Just curious….been trying to find a way onto Demonoid….

    Thanks either way.

  34. Anon (February 15th, 2009 at 8:10 pm)

Bitsoup, Torrentbytes and Demonoid aren’t search engines… they’re private trackers. Bitsoup and Torrentbytes just happen to have open signups from time to time… and Demonoid is invite only and has been for a very long time.

    @anyone praising TPB

If TPB is the best… you haven’t even begun to find your way around the private tracker world. TPB is garbage. Even shitty private trackers are better than TPB and a hell of a lot safer. Everybody’s gotta start somewhere.

Not a bad idea for a post but you should’ve thought it out better.

    Definitely need to add coda.fm

Its the best thing for music….No fake torrents….Though I wonder how long it will last before the RIAA lays down the smackdown…

but then again, the RIAA is a joke.

  38. Zorn (February 16th, 2009 at 11:31 am)

Yes, all you truly need is Demonoid and Google (to find whatever’s not on Demonoid, if you can grasp that concept… what a good tracker). However, I don’t recommend advertising Demonoid in any lists due to their fairly recent legal problems… It would seem the larger the community gets, the easier it will be for the record industry thugs and goddamn corporate pigs to dismantle it. I also don’t advise just handing out invitation codes to random people for the very reason offered above. Well, I wouldn’t anyway, I only offer invites to people I personally know, once I’m aware they know what they’re doing. Sorry, but I’ve been a member for years now, and I really don’t want to endure losing Demonoid again.
ThePirateBay used to be okay, but I’ve noticed most of the files I look for on there now are no longer seeded; I don’t know about viruses, I’ve never had a single problem with files I download there. Then again I have AVG, which is the first antivirus I’ve ever seen actually do something other than eat away at my fucking RAM or spawn fifteen auto-update processes at once. Coughnorton360cough. And, honestly, trackers like Demonoid pretty much rendered LimeWire and any other bullshit peer-to-peer programs like that obsolete when I was in high school… terrible transfer rates in general, and terrible chances of obtaining a clean file. I don’t touch that filth anyway. Isohunt and Mininova are fairly reliable, but in my opinion, NOTHING touches Demonoid AT ALL. You can also download a plugin/toolbar for your Firefox client that lets you surf multiple trackers and torrent search engines with one search; it’s convenient with its tabbed browsing but I never found it that effective, because most of the search engines are bullshit and full of unseeded files. If you listen to a lot of extremely obscure industrial bands as I do, your best bet is definitely Demonoid or Google. Kind of off topic, but if you need shit for your games, I find MegaGames has some decent fixes, patches, no-CD cracks, etc.
Ultimately, if you aren’t already a member of Demonoid, your options become that much more limited. If you’re still using thepiratebay, you could at least, uh, evolve and move on to Isohunt or Mininova. I don’t really know about BTjunkie, I’ve never needed to use it. If you’re using Comcast, I might have to recommend you stay the hell away from Sumotorrent. I downloaded a file from that one and ended up receiving a letter from Comcast which stated the filename, file size, tracker name, time at which it was downloaded, and etc. (However, this may have been a result of my own carelessness, so if SumoTorrent isn’t on the list, it’s your call whether or not to add it; I think there’s enough decent trackers on it for everyone though. It’s pulled through for me, but I question its security.) The pricks threatened to cancel my account, so I say fuck Comcast and fuck their precious Sandvine.
    And that’s my story.
Oh, and thank you for propagating these gems to the masses… There should be no tax on escape from reality.

  39. Ben (February 16th, 2009 at 2:10 pm)

yea I use piratebay, It gives accurate and up to date readings on seeders and leechers. as well, I really like the comments that other people leave so you can tell right away if it is a virus or not,or how to install whatever it is properly. The comments are always very popular, almost every torrent has them. And if you ask something you are sure to get a reply. The only time you are downloading blind(not knowing if it has virus) is if you are the first one lol. And for what I use it for, it always has what I need, with more than enough seeders every time.

  40. Ben (February 16th, 2009 at 2:13 pm)

although if someone could get me an invite to demonoid that would be great  I would love to try it out.

  41. Simple (February 16th, 2009 at 4:56 pm)

wow, i didn’t know that we had so many torrent search engines. Glad to know now. thx for sharing the sites, now i gotta download some…

    Regars,
    Simple

  42. Bobby miller (February 16th, 2009 at 5:36 pm)

I think that usniff should be first because usniff searches all of the listed sites

  43. Phaoloo (February 17th, 2009 at 5:05 pm)

I believe the Pirate Bay should be the #1 instead of #5. It almost includes all torrents your want.

  44. PVTSICK (February 18th, 2009 at 12:45 am)

I think iptorrents.com should be on there. Fast speeds and one of the best places for new releases, but it is private.

  45. Musab Zain (February 18th, 2009 at 12:57 am)

    @ Phaoloo & Bobby miller
    Its an unordered list.

    @ PVTSICK
Thanks for sharing with us. The link has been added.

  46. Bob (February 18th, 2009 at 11:08 pm)

http://www.torrents.to allows you to search all the top torrent sites at once.

  47. English FAIL (February 20th, 2009 at 2:43 am)

Grab a dictionary, Skidmark, or better yet, actually learn some HTML.

Ordered list (HTML ): a list of items where each item is automatically prefixed by an alphabetical or numerical indication of **its position in the list**.

Unordered list (HTML: ): A list of items where no item has a specific position and each item is prefixed by a fixed symbol, or nothing.

You can say all day “it’s an unordered list”, but that doesn’t make it so. At least, not in english…

  48. matt (February 20th, 2009 at 4:05 am)

THE PIRATE BAY.ORG is the best site by far. Isohunt is pretty good too, and demoniod SUCKS please remove it from the list

  49. arjun959 (February 20th, 2009 at 9:55 am)

Kiler list.. TPB has to be number one then mininova an then btjunkie.org

    my two cents!
P.s.: invite to demonoid plox!.. i ve been dying to get on that site

    thanks

  50. Musab Zain (February 20th, 2009 at 12:50 pm)

Thanks for the comments. Demonoid Invitation sent.

  51. anno (February 20th, 2009 at 4:46 pm)

feedmytorrent.com has rss feeds for TV shows (big time saver if you put all of them in a bookmark folder, I use btjunkie, torrentz.com\search then piratebay

Thanks for sharing. Your favorite TSE has been included in the list.

  53. Yago (February 21st, 2009 at 4:55 am)

 Hey awesome list! Thanks for sharing this. I personally just google: (wotever) torrent and normally have some good results. Of course they all point to these sites.

They all work fine if it wasn’t for demnonoid’s invitation… If any one has a spare one, I would be very happy if you could send it to me!

  55. Tyr (February 22nd, 2009 at 12:48 am)

its a nice list u have there.

  56. Ben (February 22nd, 2009 at 10:51 am)

all you need is mininova. its well organized, has comments and if you cant find something, use the thousands of dollars we’ve all saved by stealing everything they do have and actually buy it. just watch out for the occasional fake aXXo posts… sorta obvious when something has been up for 20 min, has 24k+ seeds and no comments

  57. Joey Jordison (February 23rd, 2009 at 8:05 am)

-btjunkie.org and isohunt should be 1 and 2!! mininova should be 3!!

  58. Bazbaker (February 26th, 2009 at 3:37 am)

    BIT COMET
    simply the best.
    LT.Col. Bazbaker

  59. Lee (February 26th, 2009 at 7:44 am)

I think that btjunkie is much better than mininova… The btjunkie layout kicks the crap out of mininova, and the comment system saves so much time!

If anyone could invite me to demonoid, that would be sick…

    -L

  60. marc (March 3rd, 2009 at 7:56 pm)

u really use these open trackers? i never would – use private trackers like root-torrents or new propaganda, then use peerguardian and use a proxy and u will be almost safe. if u won’t – good luck not being caught!

  61. Tatrer (March 5th, 2009 at 2:19 am)

I’m surprised that Pirate bay isn’t on here, especially with the big lawsuit they just went through.

  62. Musab Zain (March 5th, 2009 at 9:14 am)

Pirate bay is already on the list at #5

  63. Will (March 11th, 2009 at 8:44 pm)

  69. visalittleboy (April 27th, 2009 at 10:36 am)

    I like number 1 and number 2.
    Thanks for listing!

  70. crapstuff (June 22nd, 2009 at 6:09 pm)

Really good list man. Thanks, this let’s me keep uptodate.

I myself at the mo and for last year or two have been using isohunt (really pretty efficient) and when that doesn’t suffice I use bitche.

I suspect that the bitche gets me the demonoid torrents and tho they don’t start, if i leave them for weeks they usually do. (They turn to torrentportal?)

Got any invites to demonoid left? I’d love one, cheers :)

Oh and anyone looking 4 those game patches cheats or app patches etc… Gamecopyworld and it’s other networks has always been a winner for me.

  71. ocdave67 (July 7th, 2009 at 1:09 am)

#39 ( FeedmyTorrents by anno) and #28 (PizzaTorrent) are links to sites that are now longer in operation.
#16 and #22 are duplicate sites. One of them needs to be removed..

I would add these search sites to the list..
    1. Kick Ass Torrents.. http://www.kickasstorrents.com/
    2. Bittorrent Monster.. http://www.btmon.com/
    3. Sumo Torrent.. http://www.sumotorrent.com/index.php

  72. Musab Zain (July 7th, 2009 at 10:12 am)

  76. John (July 15th, 2010 at 5:48 pm)

siddartha, i am a demonoid user since more than 4 years now..

one thing i have found out is the number of trackers attached to a torrent..

if you are talking about speedy downloads of torrents.. you should also mention the number of trackers coz it will give consistency any a higher speed rate if any particular torrent site is busy or down..

i have used TorrentsLibrary or TorrentsWave

you should also the process of adding tracker to your download file and finding them over othr torrent site

  77. will pill (August 12th, 2010 at 11:47 am)

i feel two best r demonoid and pirate bay…..Demonoid more cuz u never get pop ups.. Pirate bay compliments Demonoid though,….

these r my two best,, and I would never give a demonoid invite n e way it is too precious a site to lose again
